For over seventy years, St. Joseph’s Academy has raised young people of faith and purpose in the heart of Malinao, Aklan. This is our story, our seal, and the beliefs that shape every Guardian who passes through our doors.

St. Joseph’s Academy of Malinao, Aklan, Inc. forms integral human persons by developing competent learners, nurturing excellence in their chosen fields, and guiding them to become faithful servants of the Church and responsible members of society.
Our Story
Founded in faith, in 1947.
In 1947, Msgr. Jose Y. Insauriga, then parish priest of Malinao, gathered prominent townspeople in the old convent and proposed a Catholic school. A corporation was formed, the old convent was remodeled into five classrooms with a library and offices, and classes opened in June 1948 under Principal Mrs. Concepcion Soler-Yatar. The Bureau of Private Schools issued the school’s permit that December.
The first commencement followed in school year 1949 to 1950. In 1953, through the efforts of Mr. Epimaco Ilejay, Msgr. Salvador Mabasa, Msgr. Insauriga, and Assemblyman Toting Reyes, the school earned Government Recognition from the Bureau of Private Schools.
During the administration of Rev. Fr. Jose V. Soriano, St. Joseph’s Academy grew from a stockholder corporation into a diocesan institution, the status it holds today, and the present school building was raised.

Identity & Governance
A diocesan school under the Diocese of Kalibo.
It is governed in accordance with the Governance of Basic Education Act and the DepEd School-Based Management Framework.
Authority flows from the Diocesan Bishop through the School Director to the Principal, who exercises academic and operational leadership over faculty, staff, and learners.
